[help] [discussion] Dog undergoing heartworm treatment - what exactly does "limiting activity" mean? more in description.

Nellie just got her first (of three) Immiticide shot about 1-2 weeks ago. I know the vet says to limit activity as much as possible, which I have been doing. I have an e-pen set up in the living room (she gets REALLY bad separation anxiety, so this way she's in the middle of everything). When I take her out, she's on a leash so she doesn't run. She is still hopping around a little bit in her pen and getting anxious.Idk, I guess my main question is - if we can keep her calm outside of the pen, do you all think it's ok to leave her loose while we are home and in the same room as her? One downside is that she would probably wonder around a little more than she would in her pen (which is 16 square feet inside - it's the MidWest Exercise Pen from amazon). My vet told me to consider whatever was the 'lesser of 2 evils' - like how rather than her sleeping in her crate (where her anxiety would be very high), to let her up on the bed (this way she gets up there and then she lays down and doesn't move).I don't know, I'm having a hard time with her heartworm, as expected with this difficult treatment. I just want her to be calm and happy - I feel like she feels punished and excluded when she's in the pen (even though she knows it's a good/safe space, she goes in there by herself).TL;DR - Nellie has heart worms and is undergoing treatment and needs to limit activity. Does that mean keeping her penned up for 3 months?*also interested in personal stories - like, what did you do to help your dog get through this treatment?**extra info: Age: 3 in August Country: southeast USA Breed: black lab mix Sex: female Dogs weight: 70 lbs via /r/dogs http://ift.tt/2rJ14i0
