My MIL can be an odd person at times. She's very set in her ways, even if they're completely out there. She had a small terrier mix for about 11 years, and he passed away about a year ago. She used to go to McDonald's to get dinner for the dog because he "wouldn't eat anything else," so she would just feed him burgers and fried chicken sandwiches. I don't think she purchased any kind of legitimate dog food for the last 6/7 years of the dogs life. For all intents and purposes, he still was a rather healthy pup, and his health started declining due to old age more so than anything else (so it seemed). Now onto it...whenever she comes to our place for dinner, she loves to sneak pinches of food under the table to my dog. I've asked her multiple times to stop, as we don't give our pup any human food (aside from random treats like carrots and cheese). She says that she does this so that "he will like her and associate her with good things." Last night, we went to her house for dinner and brought the dog. I saw her sneaking pieces of chicken to the dog multiple times. Each time, I said something along the lines of "just a reminder that he shouldn't eat human food!" By the end of the night, she started getting snarky with me, saying that she feels like I'm watching her every move and that she can't do anything without me looking. Well, that's what happens when you keep trying to feed my dog things that I explicitly ask you not to.I'm not really sure where I'm going with this, I just really really needed to vent it out. Does anyone have some advice for nipping this in the bud once and for all? It's kind of impossible to completely avoid all situations where we have the combination of her + dog + food, but I will be taking him to her place less often. via /r/dogs http://ift.tt/2rYdCll
