[Help] I'm faced with my best friend's last day, and I don't know what to do.

Hi everyone. I'm having an incredibly hard time right now and I need advice. My best friend, my world, my yellow lab Max, is about to be put down. Tomorrow is my last day with him. This wasn't exactly unexpected, except that when we took him to the vet last week, he said we could try a new treatment program and that it could help. So I had a false hope, you could say? And now I feel like I've been emotionally devastated twice, because he was dying, and then he was going to be okay, but- nope! Surprise! Dying.I would just like some help figuring out what to do to make his last day perfect. He's blind and diabetic, so I have to be careful, but at the same time, I should let him let loose on his last day, right?I'm sorry, I don't know if any of this makes sense. I've lost pets before, but I've never had someone like Max, and this is devastating on a whole new level. As awful as it sounds, I'm more upset now than I was at the death of my grandmother. So these may just be distraught ramblings, and I'm sorry if that's the case.I guess I'm just asking, what is the best thing I can do for my boy on his last day to let him know that he's loved? And is there anything I shouldn't do? via /r/dogs http://ift.tt/2sbJ791
