[Discussion] Is it common practice for a vet to staple a dogs stomach in the waiting room? While the owner is holding him?

My cousin has a Mosiac Lab that swallowed a sock, less than a week ago. There has been a surgery to remove it and he was stitched back up (it looked poorly done to me, but I dont really have a lot of experience with it).Anyways, The owner was told to feed him water with a syringe and let them know if he keeps throwing up.well, 2 days later he still barely eats, is throwing up after he attempts to eat and the incision looked to be coming apart. While in the waiting room they came out and stapled the dog while in her lap. Of course he whined ect. and though it seemed like a serious issue of his continual throwing up, they are now just saying to give him gas ex...Is this type of thing normal?
