[Discussion] Where did you find your pup?

Hey all!My boyfriend and I are searching for a puppy, and the search seems almost impossible! We have some pretty serious requirements to make sure the dog fits our lifestyle well (larger dog, not too active, young to be able to be raised with our older cat). I don't want to adopt from a breeder, but we've been checking our area humane societies once a week for months and haven't been able to find the right fit yet! I am thinking about expanding our search several states away, but I'm not sure how that will work if we travel to the pup and decide the dog isn't the right fit when we get there, or that the dog will have been adopted by the time we are able to travel to it.
