Hello Everyone!!My fiance and I moved to a small town in Northern Canada about a month ago and we are travelling back to Vancouver to lock down some wedding details for 6 days next week. We are in a bit a puppy predicament and I hope that you folks can help us make some decisions.About our Puppy:MaleGerman Shepherd / Corgi cross (we think - SPCA adoptee)6 months oldAbout 20-25lbs (he is growing fast)Very calm and great with people but has strong separation anxiety (he was given up by his last owner who was an addict and we think left him alone a lot)23 inches long and 13 inches tallAbout the Flight:West Jet - Wednesday mid evening to a Tuesday early morningVery small regional airport to YVRDe Havilland (Bombardier) DHC-8-400 Dash 8Q90 minute flightThe Predicament:We both need to go to VancouverWe don't have any friends in the small town yet and my fiance's boss is allergic to dogs - no one we trust to ask for puppy sittingWe are happy to pay for someone to look after our puppy but we would want them to stay over at our house so that he wouldn't need to be crated for long periods of timeWe are meeting a highly rated dog walker tomorrow so we are going to ask for suggestions but we worry that someone might sound good and then not take good care of him while we are gone.Questions:Would you leave the puppy at home or take him with you on the flight?Does anyone have any experience flying with a puppy on WestJet? Or through YVR?He seems to be right on the border for an in-cabin crate and a number of the travel posts on this sub seem to indicate that the small crates allowed are way smaller than the space you usually have... do you think there is a chance that we could sneak him into the cabin even though he's a bit long?Does anyone know what the hold is like on a Dash 8?Do you HAVE to drop your puppy at the baggage drop or can you keep him with you until the jetway and do a skycheck (like with wheelchairs and baby carriers... or carryons that are too large)? In cabin carriers seem way nicer than hold crates... does anyone have recommendations for the best hold crates? Cost isn't a primary concern.I did a big search and there are tons of posts with good advice all across the sub (as well as Vancouver and Canada subs) but I am hoping for more specific advice and help - I hope that I haven't missed anything too obvious. For anyone who wants to see our lil guy here are a couple pics. Thanks so much everyone - we are trying our best to act in his best interest :) via /r/dogs http://ift.tt/2sA6ict
