My 11 year old Corgi has been through a lot since last summer. She tore her ACL, and being unemployed at the time, I had no way of getting her any type of surgery. So I went with a leg brace. She eventually began to start getting up and walking again. I took her to her vet for a routine checkup and she was perfectly healthy minus her injury. She was prescribed a pain med and a nerve medication I can't remember the name of. Well, she began to deteriorate and I was afraid I'd have to put her down...until we forgot a dose of the nerve med and she perked up again, so we stopped giving her that.My mom ended up taking her to a specialist and they were concerned she might have a neurological disease that possibly caused her ACL tear and said also that she has fluid in her joints. They wanted to run tests on her that were over $3000 and I declined and went with the other treatment, which was steroids. She rapidly began getting better and returning to her old self. After getting her prescription for prednisone refilled a second time, the specialist said that she wanted my dog to see her vet for a checkup to make sure it was okay to continue the steroids. Well I took her to the vet today and he told me he would not continue the steroids because her liver looked to be affected. She has had liver issues in the past....but I guess this time the prednisone is the culprit. He prescribed her pain meds, mentioned the fluid in the joints, and suggested putting her down.I am very concerned because I know it's not good to just stop treatment completely, and like anyone else I do not want to put her down...I am at a loss here. via /r/dogs http://ift.tt/2sogMMH
