So I'm going to be flying with my dogs in the cabin on a ~6hr domestic flight. I'm looking at flying with united and saw that their max dimensions 18" long x 11"wide x 11" high. I'm unsure about how to determine the best carrier size.They aren't currently with me so I am waiting on my sister to measure them. One is a 10lb Maltese and the other is a 19lb Maltese mix (maybe Bichon?). Does anyone have experience with a carrier where their dog was over the recommended weight limit? Does anyone recommend a certain carrier? I was looking at maybe an expandable one to give them some more space once the flight starts but wasn't sure how they fit.Does anyone have any tips or advice?
