[Help] I hit a dog with my car today and it ran away after a while. Someone knowledgeable said that this dog had just given birth, but I'm worried it might be an injury

I think I hit it at maybe 30mph. Speed limit was 45 but I hit the break before I hit the dog.She hid under the car for a while and then took off. As she took off someone knowledgeable said that this dog had just given birth. I did independently see the dogs behind and thought it looked swollen and red, but not red because of bleeding.Now, my question is this. Is it possible that she wasn't in fact pregnant but that instead something had ruptured? There was no blood on the ground at all.PS. The dog had a collar which likely means that she had an owner that knows she was pregnant, if she indeed was considering my question above.
