[help] Need advice on behavioral changes due to prednisone

So a little backstory on my dog.. Four years ago I adopted a young terrier mix from my local shelter. He is the sweetest dog but was extremely stubborn. But after working with him he became a very good dog. He was crate trained, listened to basic commands and everything was great. Unfortunately about a year ago he became sick and was diagnosed with autoimmune hemolytic anemia. He recovered and is now on a life long prednisone regiment. Ever since this incident he has reverted and has become a very difficult and stubborn dog. He no longer listens, refuses to go into the crate and frankly is driving me crazy. I've given him some leeway, but he's refusing to do basic commands like going outside to go the bathroom or coming back inside (when it is too hot for him to be outside.) He has also started whining and barking when it is time to be crated at night. He has also started jumping on the furniture which was never allowed and then pees himself when we approach him to get off. I'm really at a loss of what to do. His health has been stable for months and is generally healthy and energetic. I don't expect him to be perfect but he's really become a source of stress for my household. So does anyone have any advice or tips for me? I'd really appreciate it!! via /r/dogs http://ift.tt/2rYzn4z
