[Help] [Vent] My dog is sick and I am terrified

Not sure how to label this. Sorry. On Wednesday Sheldon was out walking with me and vomited blood. Took him to the emergency vet, who originally acted like we were overreacting but then as we were leaving he just started sneezing/spraying blood everywhere. They took him in back, his platelets were 25k (normal is apparently 200k—400k), they couldn't get the nasal bleeding to stop. Stabilized him at the icu and transferred him to the internal medicine department at the vet school in the morning. They tested for tick borne pathogens - negative. Put him on fluids and antibiotics, platelets up on Thursday (yay!), they held him through to Friday and discharged him with almost normal platelet counts, 25 days of antibiotics, and anti-nausea pill and some sort of slurry for gastric ulcers. Per the vet, "Not sure what caused it, maybe an infection, probably not cancer".He's been getting progressively worse since we brought him home. More and more lethargic, this morning wouldn't come out of his crate, only way we can get him to drink water is by licking it off my hand, got him to eat about 2 licks of peanut butter off a spoon.Talked to his regular vet about his declining condition this morning and they were really concerned that he was released without any sort of diagnosis... Not sure if that's normal or not. He has an appointment at 6, and I made the mistake of carpooling to work an hour away so I couldn't get home even if I needed to.Im not sure why I posted this. I'm scared for him. I'm convinced he's going to be dead when I get home, scared and alone in his crate with his stuffed parrot and blanket. Send good thoughts please. I'm not sure what else to do. via /r/dogs http://ift.tt/2rDlpCr
