[Help]What dog breeds work well in apartments and can stay home while I'm at work?

I'm looking to adopt a dog. My boyfriend and I live at an apartment and both work 8 hours per day. There's about a 2 hour overlap in the morning when he's home and I've left for work, so realistically the dog would be home alone for about 6 hours.
