I've adopted Zoe 5 weeks ago. She is leash reactive only to other dogs. I've never had her off-leash because I do not want any incidents. In the 5 weeks I've had her, FIVE dogs have run up to her.Two were from when the owners were returning home and opened the door and their dogs rushed out.One was a woman not paying attention and dropped the leash on her dog who ran across the street to get to us. So then the owner ran across the street to get her dog, leaving her kid behind. Then her kid (4-5 years old, maybe?) ran unattended across the street to us. Luckily no cars were driving past. One was when people left their backyard gate opened during a party and the dog ran up to us and NO ONE CAME OUT TO GET THEIR DOG. I had to yell at the gate like a mad person before someone sauntered up to us from the house. And only worried when I said Zoe bites. The latest incident, Zoe had just spotted a squirrel and so was excited. I said "Leave it." She left it. Great! I was so happy. Good girl. Then we walked past a house where the owner was unloading her groceries and her dachshund jumped over the litter barrier keeping him in place and ran right up to Zoe. She bit him. She held him down on the sidewalk while the little dachshund was crying out. It was only a second or two and I pulled Zoe away and the owner grabbed her dog. I stayed to make sure he was ok. I think he is bruised but will be fine.I always try to be aware of dogs when I walk Zoe. She is never off-leash. I do the best I can to avoid other dogs and teach leave it at a far distance and reward for when she directs attention away from them. Can people just pay attention to their dogs? Especially when they're small dogs that my dog can easily injure or even kill. ARGHHH!Edit: Title should say dog, not dogs. One dog. :/ via /r/dogs http://ift.tt/2sucnXE
