I just recently put the deposit on a Mertle Great Dane through a reputable breeder her in Texas. I will be raising him from 8 weeks until he passes. I've read most of the information on the website, but was wondering from someone with experience with either GD's or big dogs, how much can I estimate I will be spending? I know the initial costs as well as the final years will be the most expensive. If you can, please give me details. From my understanding so far, 2-50 lb bags of the good dog food per month, toys, treats, obedience training (fairly decent trainers in my area run for about 150 every 6 weeks), crate, insurance, doctors visits, collars, etc. If you could, break down what you had to spend or what you know I would need to have as far as needs and wants, and then any tips for saving money while also treating my pup as best as I can? For example buying doggy food from websites that let you save when you order in bulk, maybe buying used crates from Craiglist, a good reputable vet company, good pet insurance that is fairly doable as far as cost, where to purchase toys and things for a discounted price. Thanks so much in advanced. Hope to get some pretty good answers. I'm excited. via /r/dogs http://ift.tt/2r9DkCl
