Introduction1) Will this be your first dog? If not, what experience do you have owning/training dogs?I own a Pitbull mix rescue who I got at 6 months old was a nightmare. He was wrecking things, pulling on his leash and chasing my Dad's cats. Through consistent training he is well behaved and is an important member of my family. I had a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel as child but I never did anything responsibility wise besides walk it as it was my Step Dads dog.2) Do you have a preference for rescuing a dog vs. going through a reputable breeder?I would prefer a breeder but I would consider rescuing. I would like a puppy though.3) Describe your ideal dog.Affectionate, Athletic, Energetic but has an ''off button''.4) What breeds or types of dogs are you interested in and why?I like what I've seen on the internet about The Alapaha Blood Blood Bulldog but am not sure if that would be the correct kind of dog for me.I've met a couple mastiff type dogs in my neighborhood and they were really chill but I was concerned about their health and lifespan.I think kinds of hounds are cool but I'm not sure if they would be good for me.5) What sorts of things would you like to train your dog to do?I want to train the dog to pull a cart as I could not get mine at all to enjoy it. Obviously I would have to wait until their bones develop all the way. I would like to have it carry a pack while camping as I do with my first dog.Care Commitments6) How long do you want to devote to training, playing with, or otherwise interacting with your dog each day?1-2 hours a day training/playing. My current dog rides along in my car with me for about 8 hours each day for work.7) How long can you exercise your dog each day, on average? What sorts of exercise are you planning to give your dog regularly and does that include using a dog park?I would like to take the dog hiking, camping, and on regular walks. I do not like dog parks at all so I will not be going to one.8) How much regular brushing are you willing to do? Are you open to trimming hair, cleaning ears, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly?I would be willing to do as much home grooming as possible but I would want to stay away from a longer haired dog as I live in Arizona and I feel it would be too hot for them.Personal Preferences9) What size dog are you looking for?Medium to Large10) How much shedding, barking, and slobber can you handle?I can handle alot of shedding and slobber but only a medium level of barking.11) How important is being able to let your dog off-leash in an unfenced area?Not very important as when I camp or hike I have my dog on a long line.Dog Personality and Behavior12) Do you want a snuggly dog or one that prefers some personal space?Snuggly but not opposed to one that likes to have some space.13) Would you prefer a dog that wants to do its own thing or one that’s more eager-to-please?Eager to please.14) How would you prefer your dog to respond to someone knocking on the door or entering your yard? How would you prefer your dog to greet strangers or visitors?I would prefer they barked at first but calmed down once they entered.
