Let me preface by saying that I'm not asking if I should cancel my pet insurance since nobody can really answer that for me. But I'd like some information on how "often" Boston Terriers or dogs in general get surgeries.I got my pure bred Boston Terrier pet insurance through Trupanion when she was young. So it was supposed to be about $50/month (Canadian dollars). It went up to $62 and now $75. I'm considering cancelling it.Before, I couldn't afford to pay thousands of dollars if she ate something and needed surgery, got ran over, etc. She's 2 years old now and is pretty well trained. She can't be off leash, but she doesn't eat things. If I cancel, I'll be saving $900/year.I figure.. What's the likelihood of her needing expensive surgeries? Once, maybe. But every 2 years? Unlikely. So I figure it might be best to save the $900 a year and IF she does need something, I would have money set aside. If you're not familiar with Trupanion, it covers A LOT. Hospital stays, diagnostic tests, medications, surgeries... includes genetic issues, as well.So now.. my question is.. how often do pure bred Boston Terriers get ill? How often do their hips give out?My other question is.. even if I cancel and could afford unexpected vet bills.. would it still be better to invest in an insurance now for when my Boston Terrier becomes old and is more likelihood of needing pet insurance? via /r/dogs http://ift.tt/2rziKv9
