Just to get it out of the way - I'm looking into trainers right now, and have a gajillion tabs open reading up on their sites, Yelp, etc.Our recently adopted dog seems to have some pretty profound leash reactivity and fear about barking and yapping dogs. On our street alone, on our block, each corner -- all four! -- have crazy fence-charging loud dogs that will bull rush and go apeshit at our new dog, every single time. They're out most of the day. I never even knew most of these houses had dogs, as they ignore humans. They go nuts at every dog. All adjacent blocks for 2-4 in all directions are like this.We have one calm neighbor dog that I know of, who ignores us, and our dog ignores him 100% of the time after giving him a side eye. This makes walks complete hell for her unless it's before 6am or after 9pm. All dogs trigger her as well, and it's like she's rapidly getting conditioned worse by the screamers to scream right back at every dog even with over the top positive reinforcement and feeding her treats like a dog with foie gras.We can't live in the house and never take the dog out. We live in a city. Dog contact is inevitable and constant. What can we do in the meanwhile until we can get with a trainer? The treat and praise and distract thing is quickly losing it's effectiveness, to where my SO (physically much smaller than I am) is concerned about walking the dog and being able to control her. She's even begun to lunge at leashed dogs. She's super sweet, gentle, loving, and reasonably well trained otherwise. via /r/dogs http://ift.tt/2qVg7kx
