[Discussion] I am going to establish a Boxer/Dachshund rescue. I'm retired, broke, eager, determined and don't know Diddley (Bo knows...) about organizing/running a rescue of 2 breeds I love like kin. Any help of any type is deeply appreciated.

I'm going to realize a third life-dream that was only revealed to me well after attaining adulthood. Boxers have taken the #1 spot in my heart from Border Collies, ending a 45-year reign. And my wife showed me, by finding a really good blood line, showed me what makes them special. I don't know what it is about the Germans, but they can breed the heck out of canis familaris. I hadn't realized it for decades, favoring the UK-raised Borders, But here's off the top of my head: Schnauzers (and minis), Doberman Pinschers, Boxers, Dachshunds (literally, "badgerdog", a breed created with special fold-flat rear legs for maneuvering in badger tunnels and dens. Bears are known to give badgers a wide berth in the wild), Rottweilers, German Shepherds, The German Shorthaired Pointer, the Great Dane, the Spitz, Keeshond (Keeshound), the Pomeranian, the Poodle, the Weimeraner and a half-dozen odd more, give or take. But the Boxer and the Dachshund own the two-leggers in this house. Having just spent the last two years working with a rescue Dachsie who was found in a bad breeder's place so cold they had to use a warming blanket to keep him alive, I have watched a little black-and-ten who was almost feral turn around (almost) completely and become "a real dog". And with a Dachsie, that's saying something. He still has nightmares, but has finally figured out what "good boy" means...yeah, this poor, tough-as-nails little SOB had to learn "how to dog". Our other Dachsie rescue actually gets an assist here, as well.I have learned as much in the last five years about dogs as I probably learned in my first thirty. Good dogs need my (and my wife's) help. "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step".We're on the way. via /r/dogs http://ift.tt/2s2lSBp
