I'm looking to switch my dogs off from Taste of the Wild. My poodle has never been a big fan of the stuff and takes forever to eat it, for a long time she would just turn her nose up and walk away from it. Her stool is also slightly loose and stinky on it. My wheaten loves the stuff (but loves any and everything) and does fine on it. I prefer to keep my dogs on the same food if possible. I was talking with a vet and she said that Purina's higher lines (like ProPlan) are quite reliable and their research and testing are long established. She is not as big of a fan of TOTW or Blue Buffalo, saying she feels that they sell based on "fear" and a bit of false advertising. I have been grain and chicken free simply because Wheatens can be prone to those allergies, although mine has not shown any reactions to chicken or grains in treats. My poodle is a puppy and quite active. She eats about a cup of TOTW a day (and won't eat more), but is quite thin. My vet says that as she is a puppy it's okay but would be concerned if she still felt this thin once she is an adult, she's 8 months now. I'm hoping that the 30/20 formula will help her gain and maintain a little weights as she matures. The breed specific facebook groups I'm in seem to consider Purina a very terrible, horrible kibble and suggest I stay away at all costs and that I feed raw instead. I would prefer to stick with kibble for now though. I like that Purina has feed testing done through AAFCO, and isn't "only" up to their guidelines. Is this really as terrible as I'm hearing? What kibble works for you and your dogs best? via /r/dogs http://ift.tt/2rtPoi4
