I'm posting this on behalf of someone who doesn't use reddit. I hope this is allowed.Peter owned a dog and had it microchipped in his name. The dog was stolen and turned over to a shelter. There was no attempt by the shelter to contact Peter and it is unknown if they ever scanned the microchipped. The shelter held the dog for three days and then put it up for adoption. John adopted the dog, not knowing that the dog's history or that it was microchipped. Peter spent approximately 6 months searching for the dog. A public online post about the dog happened to be seen by Paul. John reached out to Peter suggesting that he may have Peter's dog. Photos of the dog confirmed that it was indeed Peter's dog. John refuses to return the dog and has ceased all communication on the topic. The dog is still microchipped under Peter's name. Does Peter have any legal rights in this situation? via /r/dogs http://ift.tt/2qKltiG
