[Help] my aunts dog is really hesitant when it comes to eating her food and idk why

Ill put her food bowl next to her and she backs away from it as if she's scared of it. I have to pet her and point at her bowl and say "eat" but even then she just stands there for a little bit then slowly approaches her bowl & starts eating. She was abused as a puppy before my aunt adopted her so maybe that's why? but im not sure via /r/dogs http://ift.tt/2svua0z
