I used to foster disabled dogs and ended up adopting my toughest case. She had a full leg amputation of her left back leg after being shot twice-but has been doing completely fine and is extremely active-runs over 5 miles 3x a week with me, dog park almost daily, etc. She's extremely healthy, light for her weight range, etc.However-this past season change she has started experiencing phantom pain that causes her to yelp mid activity and then lay down, whine, lick, and bite at the amputation site for long periods. This has started happening mid sleeping too :(Our vet isn't entirely sure-has recommended painkillers, anti anxiety meds, sedation, acupuncture, etc...I'd prefer not to drug her because it makes her very confused and upset (would rather not relive the days after her amputation...) but it's become so frequent and long that I feel like it's affecting her quality of life.Has anyone tried acupuncture with their dog-or have any advice whatsoever???I hate that she can't enjoy any activity right now... via /r/dogs http://ift.tt/2slYprT
