So my historically trash neighbors recently acquired two dogs unbeknownst to our landlord, as our apartment complex is not pet friendly. Anyhow, it didn't last long and they were forced to give up the dogs. They had told my wife in passing that they had to take them to the pound, but while working on our car today we found them both sitting in the hall between our doors (being the trash people that they are they have since placed one of the dogs beds out as a door mat, and I'm assuming they could smell it and that's how they made their way home, as they only had them for a few weeks). One was very emaciated and the other tied up in a belt what was obviously being used as a makeshift harness. We've taken them to a local vet, had them scanned for chips and it is their dogs, one dog was still registered to the previous owner who was upset to hear they had probably been abandoned. We currently have the dogs, are feeding them and have cleaned them up, and plan to hold them until Monday when animal control will be open. We tried to call the police and file a report but they had no interest and said it isnt something they handle. Anyhow, we are close with our landlord and this is not the first major issue with this couple, and we can likely get them evicted. Regardless, I want to get them as hard as possible for this. Anyone have any ideas here? Also, know of any other subreddits I could cross post this to? via /r/dogs http://ift.tt/2rwFZo0
