Okay, maybe the title is a bit of an exaggeration, but still true.My boyfriend and I have a 1-year-old spayed female German Shepherd named Zoey. I don't know if this matters, but she is more attached to me than my boyfriend.Today, we brought home a senior chocolate lab who we named Hank. They met at the shelter yesterday and did totally fine together. If there was even the slightest hint that they weren't going to get along, we wouldn't have brought another dog home. Hank got neutered right before coming home so he was groggy most of the day. I was at work when Hank was brought home, but my boyfriend said that the dogs were totally fine together for the 3 hours that they were together before I got home. Now that I'm home, Zoey has been barking and snapping at Hank. She's visibly nervous, her ears are back, she's nuzzling into us for reassurance, and she's panting. I put her on a leash so that they can interact but any bad behavior from her can be quickly corrected. I'm rewarding good interactions and correcting bad ones without punishing.I know that Hank is stressed out. He's an old man who was in a shelter and now in a new home. Zoey is stressed out because she has a stranger in her house and her mom has the audacity to pet him. What can I do to make this transition easier for all of us involved? via /r/dogs http://ift.tt/2rw0KSH
