[HELP] Time Apart

Y'all, I did something foolish. I'm a consultant. I work for whoever will have me, wherever they'll have me. For three years, I've worked completely locally, no travel. And in that time, I let my (now ex) girlfriend get me a dog. A three month old puppy.It's been a year and a half. And she is the sweetest thing that's ever been. Ever. But now the time has come, and I knew it was always coming... I have a travel project. It's going to be Monday-Thursday in another city, and Friday-Sunday at home. This is likely to last 4-8 months.I have family in town who are willing to bear some of the load. I have friends I've dogsat for who owe me favors. And I have friends who would love the opportunity to housesit and love on the pupper. For the most part I think I can avoid boarding her.I guess what I'm looking for is... Does anyone have experience with this kind of distance from their dog? Does anyone have any tips on mitigating the distance? Does anyone have any training tips? Does anyone have tips on maintaining connection?I don't want to leave my dog in the lurch, and I can't mitigate the travel for at least 3-4 months.
