[Help] Trying to decide if a second dog is a good fit for our household

So I guess the title really says it all. My husband a I have a wonderful almost 2 year old rescue pitbull that we got from the shelter when she was young. Honestly I couldn't ask for a better dog. She is loving, playful, and loves her feline sister gently. We worry though that she is lonely being the only dog in the household, and we thought that getting a second dog would be a good option. Every time my husband's parents bring their dog over she seems overjoyed and loves being around her. However, when we show the dog any affection at all our dog gets really jealous and head butts us until we love on her instead. She is never aggressive about this though, but I don't want this second dog to completely rock her world and make her feel unloved.
