I have a 45 - 50 lb. lab mix who needs a broken molar extracted. I've been quoted $1800 and $2400 for the removal (under anesthesia) by two vets (his usual vet was one, and a specialist his usual vet referred us to was the other). While I realize this will not be cheap, this seems unusually high compared to numbers I've been seeing online. I do live in the San Francisco Bay Area, so I understand that the price might be high compared to other places in the US, but I've seen people writing that similar procedures cost only $1000 or less.Should I keep looking?
