[Help]6 weeks Crate rest...

Our puppy Akira (great pyr/caucasian shep) was playing in the backyard with my girlfriend. She likes to jump up at the water coming out of the hose, well she got a bit excited probably jumped too high and landed wrong. Long story short and $5,000 later she has had surgery to repair the spiral fracture to her right hindleg. She's at home now pretty doped up on pain medication right now but we've been directed to keep her on 6-8 weeks of crate rest. Our vet says they'll re-evaluate at 4 weeks to see if the added exercise of walking around and being more mobile will be good for bone healing etc etc but until then she's stuck either in the crate or laying on the couch on a leash. Background on her she is a 11 month old puppy with a good amount of energy for a large dog (she's about 80-85 lbs/36-38 kg). She isn't border collie levels of energy but she rips around the yard and goes on walks during the day and generally enjoys playing with our other dog Louie. We aren't concerned with Louie trying to play with her because he's always a reluctant participant to the playing anyways. We know she's hurting now and happy to lounge around but in a few weeks we know she's going to want to move around more so...how the hell do we entertain her while she's stuck in these circumstances. So far we have frozen every single Kong we own and have rounded up all the treat/food releasing toys but we're open to any and all other suggestions. via /r/dogs http://ift.tt/2sdaIJM
