[Discussion] After 7 years my dog is getting over his separation anxiety!

We recently adopted a second dog. It's been going well so far, except yesterday our new dog, Sokka, chewed a small hold in the couch. I watched it happen on the pet cam. Basically Sokka was trying to get the older dog, Skipper, to play and when Skipper didn't play with him, Sokka was like "this couch is so fun!". So my SO and I decided we should try kenneling them during the day.We hadn't done it yet because Skipper has serious fear of kennels. I suspect he was left in his kennel for way to long before we adopted him years ago. I tried every trick in the book to get him to like his kennel and then just gave up on it a few years ago. When we got Sokka we kennel trained him and he took to it right away. It's his favorite place in the whole house and loves going in there to rest and chill.Last night I got out Skipper's old kennel and tried the kennel training again with treats and clicker. It was like instant kennel happiness. He slept in it all night, not a single whine or bark and in the morning I opened the door to let him out and he just kept sleeping in there! I know this doesn't sound like a huge deal but this is just HUGE for him. I'm watching them on the pet cam at work and both doggos are in their own kennel completely relaxed resting.I'm just so proud of my dogs! And I'm sure someone will say something, yes they don't stay in there all day. Me or my SO will go home during our lunch to walk them and Sokka goes for an hour long run every morning with my SO.Cute pups photo tax via /r/dogs http://ift.tt/2rpg3No
